Be even more leery of someone that posts comments on blogs and does not leave their company name and/or does not have a company email address.

I don't know ... could be a snake hiding in the grass :)

In the interest of fairness, let me restate my issue. If someone wants to buy pay-per-click services from a company such as yours then let them have at it but they should understand what they are buying.

They should know that these services do not require a middle-man. Just as customers understand they can buy their own job advertisements or they can choose an employment agency to buy the listing on their behalf.

They should also understand that they are purchasing pay-per-click service and not organic placement. No one can guarantee top placement in Google.

It has been my experience, and that of my customers, that many salespeople in your industry misrepresent the products that they are selling.

Be leary of anyone who feels they have to put their competition down in order to get phone calls! You CAN manage your own keywords, but it doesn't mean you can do it better than a company that has a platform to do this. We can all mow our own lawns, but it doesn't mean we all have the time to do it and we don't call lawn care companies snakes.

Hopefully the industry will develop standards similar to TAPI which allows developers to write one application that works with many phone systems.

Thanks for the comment Mark! I am so sorry that this company deceived you.

They make it more difficult for authentic SEO providers like CCP Web Design to do business with consumers.

I want to leave you with one tip. Hate the scammers but embrace the industry. PPC is a fantastic marketing tool.

You can easily run your own PPC campaign. Google makes it easy and free to participate in this type of marketing.

Sign up for a free Google Analytics account and follow the online instructions for setting up your AdWords campaign.

The internet is the evolution of the phone book, like pagers to cell phones. I wanted to increase my internet exposure and was contacted by Yodle. I went for the gusto. I have a Solar Business in Gilroy, CA. In 3 months I got 17 responses and 390 clicks. 2 job leads.

My complaints were that I never got and statements of accounts and Yodle without my permission or authorization charged on my credit card after I specifically told them not to.
I could not get my listing as promised past my town of Gilroy in the San Jose, areas.

When the 3 Yoldle team entices demonstrated their goods as popping up in one of the three fields I was sold. I was also told that there was a "roll over" of unused clicks and that I would be charged only for clicks. What they did not tell me was they have the liberty to charge you what ever mark-up on the clicks they want. This is miss leading because you think that the $56.00 maintenance covers this.

I strongly encourage everyone to read about this companies scams. It all points to disaster.

There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game.
